JCB Babe Ruth REC & AB/All Star program for players 13 to 18 years old.
The standard Florida Babe Ruth Divisions are:
In our Babe Ruth REC Program, our teams play in a city-wide Coalition League comprised of other REC organizations throughout the Jacksonville area (in past Spring and Fall seasons we have averaged 20-25 teams participating) Our home fields are Mills Field 8 and Kehoe Park. We travel around the Jacksonville area playing other local REC teams during our season. We play about a dozen games in a season (2 per week…on weeknights and Saturdays) with 50% of our games HOME/AWAY.
Every player makes a team - and we design our DRAFT to ensure all of our teams in each division have as equitable talent as possible. Since we are primarily playing against other parks, all teams need adequate pitching, catching, hitting etc. in order to compete.
Our AB Program starts up shortly after each REC season begins. The AB teams are elite players selected through a draft of our registered REC players. These AB teams generally workout on Fridays and Sundays and participate in Games and Tournaments as scheduled by the coaches.
Our Summer All-Star Program starts up at the end of our Spring REC season and runs through the summer months until the Florida State Tournament. We schedule a tryout and approximately 12-14 players are selected per age group. These teams participate in local and out of town tournaments, and the season culminates with the Babe Ruth State Tournament in June/July. If successful, these teams continue to Regionals.
Players in our Babe Ruth age groups may also choose to participate in our Teen Umpire Program. Supporting our league by field-umping games in the Cal Ripken divisions (9U–12U).
