ALL-STAR/ADVANCED BASEBALL

ALL STAR BASEBALL OVERVIEW

The all-star player selection process begins in the beginning of April.  All-star teams will begin practice towards the end of the rec season and could last into July and August if a team advances in the Cal Ripken state tournament and beyond.

Selection Process
Each regular season head coach nominates players from their respective team to be evaluated for the all-star team.  Each division will hold an evaluation and score the entire pool of nominated players.  To be selected to an all-star team, a player *MUST participate in the evaluation or a scheduled make-up.

*Note: injuries will be accounted for and addressed on a case basis.

Each player will be scored in the evaluation based on a series of appropriate drills to each age division.

5U - 8U:

The top eight evaluated players will automatically be selected for their respective team regardless of position.

The ninth player will be selected from players that play a "core position" by the head coach OR simply the ninth rated player if there is an abundance of players at that position after the top 8.

The final 3 players are selected by the head coach from all remaining players.

For 5U - 8U core positions will be defined as SS and 1B.

9U - 12U:

The top seven evaluated players will automatically be selected for their respective team regardless of position.

The eighth and ninth players will be selected from players that play a "core position" by the head coach OR simply the eighth/ninth rated players if there is an abundance of players at that position after the top 7.

The final 3 players are selected by the head coach from all remaining players.

For 9U - 12U core positions will be defined as P and C.

Advanced Baseball (AB) Overview

The purpose of the AB program is to provide "advanced" instruction to players that have an abundant zeal or passion, for the game of baseball, an opportunity to learn and compete at a higher level. It is a competitive program and each player is required to try out in order to participate. This program also requires a higher level of commitment from the players and their parents.

AB is played during Fall and Spring seasons, and All-Stars are selected in the Spring to play in the Summer. Fall AB is "advanced" baseball instruction, and not as competitive as Spring AB and All-Stars. In addition, with Fall AB there are no playoffs, Regional or State championships, those are only in Spring AB and possibly Summer All Stars. Depending on the number of participants and coaches available, we try to have two teams (A and B team.)

Advanced Baseball (AB) Process

The Advanced Baseball (AB) player selection process begins in the beginning of each season.  AB teams will begin practice shortly after the selection process.
